Episode 264 - Author Spotlight with Claire Fuller

Welcome to Episode 264! We were thrilled to have a chance to speak with CLAIRE FULLER about her new novel, HUNGER AND THIRST. Soon, author of Cece Downings Start Over Summer, was in conversation with Patricia Santomasso, the audiobook narrator of the novel. Chris visited the Pandemonium Rainforest Project and was excited by their book tent outside and their loungey vintage book room inside. She also had two #BuddyRead conversations with friends: the novel 11/22/63 by Stephen King and ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER by Seth Grahame-Smith (both the novel and the movie adaptation). Speaking of buddy reads, in the last episode we announced our third-quarter readalong in our year of reading Page-to-Screen adaptations: THE COMPLETE PERSEPOLIS by Marjane Satrapi, translated by Anjali Singh. The film adaptatio was written and directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud. We chose this title months ago and were saddened to hear of Satrapi’s recent death. Because of this, you may want to request it from your library right away; we hear there are now waitlists for it. PERSEPOLIS was originally published in two volumes, so you may find those if the complete version is a longer wait or unavailable. We have also chosen a companion read: WAKE NOW IN THE FIRE by Jarrett Dapier with illustrations by AJ Dungo. This is a graphic novel based on the true story of PERSEPOLIS being banned by the Chicago Public School system in recent years. The Zoom discussion is set for Sunday, August 16th at 7 pm ET.
