Did D4vd Really Call Celeste's Phone That Night?

One call at 12:04 in the morning. That is the piece of this hearing that will not leave people alone. A detective testified that Burke's phone, sitting in a desolate part of Santa Barbara County, dialed Celeste Rivas Hernandez's number hours after prosecutors say she was killed.

Start with the garage. An LAPD criminalist testified Bluestar reacted strongly on the rubber mats covering the floor, then on the bricks underneath, then on a rowing machine, a tarp, a charging cord, and a trash bag with wipes inside it. She examined a blue inflatable pool that showed nothing visible, smelled almost like laundry, and had a dryer sheet stuck to it — and one area of it still glowed.

Now add what was sitting out in the open in the same space, tested and documented as negative.

There is an explanation on the table for that. Whether it survives being in the same room as everything else is the whole conversation.

Blair Berk's cross has been surgical and it has been about absence. Handles never swabbed for touch DNA, a third saw left in a closet, footwear impressions on the pool that were never lifted and never compared to any shoes. Every defense lawyer builds doubt out of what nobody did. The question is whether this time it is real.

Cell records and Tesla data placed a phone and a car traveling together from that house to a remote stretch of Santa Barbara County on three separate occasions, according to testimony.
