The Harlesden-based musician has just released his long-awaited debut album how the fuck does everybody else manage?, an exploration into identity, addiction, violence, vulnerability, grief, and existential anxiety, written against a backdrop of political unrest. As one of the UK's most exciting, thoughtful and talented rising artists, we spoke to Kamal about the artists and tracks that have influenced his knack for storytelling through music, including songs by Drake, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Prince and more.
