Lindsay Clancy's Warning Doctors Never Acted On

Lindsay Clancy told her doctors something eight days before her three children died, and whatever that warning was is now part of a trial that may not have a clean outcome no matter what the jury decides.
The prosecution and defense agree on the underlying facts. Lindsay Clancy killed Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy in their Duxbury, Massachusetts home. ADA Jennifer Sprague says she mapped her husband's route on Apple Maps and used the window she created with intent. Kevin Reddington's defense says a mother on thirteen psychiatric medications in four months, hospitalized at McLean and seen in the ER, was in the grip of postpartum psychosis and lacked criminal responsibility.
There's also the whiteboard. Intubated afterward and unable to speak, Lindsay Clancy was given a dry-erase board, and the first question she wrote down is one this case still hasn't resolved.
The court denied a defense motion to split the trial into two phases, which means one jury has to weigh a premeditation theory and a psychiatric defense at the same time. Patrick Clancy, the children's father, is on both witness lists, set to testify first for the prosecution and again for the defense, all while pursuing a malpractice claim against the doctors who treated his wife.
We break down the Andrea Yates precedent, where a first jury convicted on facts nearly identical to this one and a second jury acquitted, and why Massachusetts requires the prosecution, not the defense, to prove sanity beyond a reasonable doubt.
