Nick Reiner Kept Walking Out. Lindsay Clancy Kept Asking.

Nick Reiner Kept Walking Out. Lindsay Clancy Kept Asking.

Nick Reiner spent seventeen years with help arriving at his door, and by his own account in interviews given long before any of this, he kept leaving it standing there.

His own account of it is on the record long before any of this. A December 2015 People interview has him putting his first rehab around age fifteen, with roughly seventeen stays behind him by twenty-two. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that figure as some eighteen. In the LA Times that same year he described refusing to go at all, or checking in and then walking out to live on the street. He framed homelessness as what it cost to do recovery his own way instead of theirs.

Somebody carried that. Records reported by Fox affiliates show a yearlong conservatorship, which means a family asked a judge to take legal control of an adult. Court filings say siblings Jake and Romy Reiner initially agreed to fund attorney Alan Jackson and then reversed, and ABC News reports it isn't publicly known why.

There is also a complication nobody should skip. According to Variety, trustee Paul Kanin has been unwilling to release trust funds over unresolved concerns about Reiner's capacity to make sound decisions and adequately protect his own interests. A new trustee, Jodi Montgomery, has since been appointed.

He is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has pleaded not guilty, and no motive has been officially confirmed. Tony Brueski contrasts all of it with Lindsay Clancy, who went looking for help and was sent home in a day. A Hidden Killers investigation. The petition itself includes a line worth reading exactly as written. It says Nick loved his parents, and he is devastated by their deaths. That sits in the court record alongside a request for the money those same parents set aside for him. Holding both of those at once is closer to the truth of this case than picking whichever one fits an argument better.
