Here is the back half of my conversation with Melbourne's songwriting gem, Dan Brodie!

We lead off with the track "I've Been Drinking a Lot" and stories of life with and without alcohol.

I ask him about some of the earliest Dan Brodie singles ("I'm Floatin' Mamma," "Big Hearted Lovin' Man") - and what place they have in his current setlists. We also talk about his seminal release The Ballad of Cowboy Dan, what the epic title track means to him and how it helped inform the writing this new LP.

Dan also talks about the great response Suburban Dreaming has been receiving. He also mentioned the sound effects used on the album and how that is connected to his love of film.

"I think because of the sounds and stuff, that lends itself more to my love of film and cinema," he said. "I get drawn into scenes of movies and sound design. I love great sound design. I think that is in a way, as well, a template of what I wanted to do with this record."
