In this special swapcast, Integrating Presence and Echoes and Stories of Dhamma come together for a conversation with Bhante Bhikkhu Subhuti, an American Buddhist monastic based in Sri Lanka.

Now in his 20th vassa, Bhante Subhuti reflects on the journey that brought him from lay life into monastic training, and on what two decades of living the monastic life have taught him about practice, discipline, and the mind.

The conversation also explores aspects of meditation practice, including his experience of developing and sustaining a contemplative practice within the monastic environment. Alongside the formal dimensions of Buddhist practice, Bhante Subhuti shares practical reflections and advice for lay practitioners—how the Dhamma can be integrated into ordinary life, and what can genuinely support spiritual development beyond the meditation cushion.
