AI Music Is Getting Outta Hand: Artists, Algorithms & The Future of Sound

AI Music Is Getting Outta Hand: Artists, Algorithms & The Future of Sound

AI has officially entered the chat, Popholics… and she might be doing too much. This week on The Weekly Wind Down, Jer is diving into one of the strangest and most urgent conversations happening in music right now: AI generated songs, fictional artists, fake voices, digital fandoms, and what all of this means for the future of creativity.

What started as a tool for experimentation has quickly turned into something much bigger. We now have AI generated music gaining real listeners, fake artists blending into playlists, and songs that sound a little too polished to be human. So the real question is not just whether the song is good. The bigger question is what happens when the emotional connection, lived experience, vocal texture, and human messiness that make music matter start getting replaced by prompts, platforms, and profit motives. Jer breaks down how we got here, from Auto Tune and sampling to vocal manipulation, virtual performers, AI songwriting, and fully artificial artists. Technology has always changed music, but this feels different because it challenges the actual definition of an artist.

Then we get into the ethics of it all. Who owns the sound? Who gets paid? Who gets replaced? And what happens to the working musicians, background vocalists, writers, producers, licensing artists, and creative middle class when labels realize they can generate a “good enough” track without dealing with human needs, disputes, schedules, or emotions?

Of course, the fan connection is the heart of it all. Pop stardom has never been just about the song. It is the interviews, the eras, the performances, the fashion, the imperfections, the personality, and the relationship between artist and audience. Can people truly stan someone who does not exist? And are we ready for a future where AI artists, hologram concerts, and digital celebrities become normal?

This episode is not about pretending technology is going away. It is about asking what we refuse to lose as it evolves.

Press play and let’s talk about the future of music before the robots start asking for publishing.
