Going Up? The Lady in the L&C Tower

Long before glass-walled skyscrapers and rooftop bars dominated the skyline, the 30-story Life & Casualty Tower stood as Nashville's premier architectural wonder—and the Southeastern United States' tallest commercial building upon its 1957 opening. Famous for its towering observation deck and iconic neon letters that once signaled the local weather forecast, the L&C Tower holds a far darker place in Music City lore. On a chilly morning in February 1996, 20-year-old Morningstar Green rode the elevator to the 30th floor observation deck for the second consecutive day, only to tragically fall to her death. Decades later, building staff and security officers report an unexplainable phenomenon: an uncalled elevator that repeatedly ascends to the 30th floor, opening its empty doors as if patiently waiting for a passenger who never returned.
