Louis then shares his own business experience to show how consumer behavior can encourage these models: when he raised prices slightly to offer better service and reliability, sales dropped dramatically because customers overwhelmingly chose the lowest price. His takeaway is that people need to look beyond price and consider value, reliability, and freedom from subscription traps. He says he personally avoids HP and similar brands, prefers Brother printers because they “just work,” and hopes consumers will use their wallets to push companies away from these restrictive practices.
