Call 4: The Calls From the Inside Gypsy to Michelle 8-1-2016 BuzzFeed Interview: Escape Attempts and Abuse Reflections(Part 1)

In her first extensive call with Michelle Dean, Gypsy expresses relief at being outdoors after thirteen months in Green County's windowless jail.

She shares that her mother did not properly school her, leaving her with a second-grade education, but she plans to earn her GED, work, and join the CHAMP dog-training program. Gypsy recounts her 2011 runaway attempt; her mother tracked her down within four hours, smashed her computer and cell phone, and chained her to a bed with a dog leash and handcuffs. Gypsy reflects on researching Munchausen by proxy on jail tablets, realizing her mother fit every symptom, and expresses frustration that only one neurologist raised suspicions. She recalls hugging her attorney in celebration over the ten-year plea agreement.

Insider From Fancy: This is our baseline. The beginning of every lie. The way in which she does it with such ease is really shocking. By the time she got to me she was much more polished but her ability to think and make up things on the fly is astounding. These calls with Michelle Dean & Erin Lee Carr are very telling and I am fascinated to finally hear how the story started to be spun before the ink on DeeDee's autopsy was even dry. To me this feels like a very planned and calculated story that I do not believe that Gypsy had the capacity to come up with on her own. The fact that the Pitre family's statements from the 14th to the 17th included stories stating Gypsy was never sick, and words like we think it's Munchausen By Proxy show me that this wasn't just a case of a murder to escape a controlling mother. It was planned, and the narrative was already set in place long before the blade went into DD's body. I am filled with anger, grief, disappointment, and a wealth of feelings. Please have grace for us as we process all of this and know we will always seek truth. This call is absolutely one Mack and I will be discussing soon.
