Mothers in Conversation for Black Breastfeeding Week 2026

Mothers in Conversation for Black Breastfeeding Week 2026

Black Breastfeeding week is celebrated during the last week of August. Its aim is to amplify Black women’s voices and lived experiences which have historically been underrepresented in breastfeeding literature and conversations.

In LLL, stories matter. Sharing our stories connects us with something bigger — the global community of mothers and peers, learning from and supporting each other.

In this episode we are speaking with a group of Black women about their breastfeeding experiences, challenges that they faced and source of support that sustained their journeys.

The following questions are explored in this discussion:

- How our guests have personally dealt with criticism and/or judgement when feeding their babies

- What advice they would give to other mothers who are navigating criticism while working towards their own breastfeeding goals

- Where they found support during their nursing journeys

A holistic model of support offered by LLL is discussed and the listeners are encouraged to reach out to LLLGB if breastfeeding support and information is needed.

LLLGB is a charity that offers mother to mother and parent to parent support for breastfeeding and chestfeeding. The charity was founded by seven mothers in 1956 and since then has accumulated a wealth of knowledge that is now supported by the latest scientific evidence and research.
