Why Do I Say Sorry for Everything — A 10-Minute Meditation for People-Pleasing Anxiety

Why Do I Say Sorry for Everything — A 10-Minute Meditation for People-Pleasing Anxiety

Why Do I Say Sorry for Everything? — People-Pleasing Anxiety Relief | Guided Meditation with 4-2-6 Breathing

If you've ever wondered "why do I say sorry for everything?", from bumping into someone to simply having a feeling, today's guided meditation is for you. Calming Anxiety sits with the quiet, exhausting reflex of chronic apologizing, the fear that if you're agreeable enough, easy enough, small enough, nobody will ever be angry with you.

We slow the body first with 4-2-6 breathing, in for four, hold for two, out for six, creating the same small pause Martin often had to teach frightened patients as a paramedic: the space between the trigger and the reaction.

Clinical hypnotherapist Martin then guides you through affirmations for taking up space without guilt, followed by three daily caring tips for catching the reflex to say sorry before it leaves your mouth. You are allowed to pause before you answer, and you are allowed to take up exactly as much space as you're entitled to.

🌿 Today's Gentle Affirmations

Let these words land, and repeat them silently or out loud if you wish:

* I am allowed to take up space.

* I do not have to apologize for existing.

* I do not have to apologize for having my own needs.

* I can ask for something without apologizing first.

* I can say no without being a bad person.

* I will always take a moment before I answer.

* The pause belongs to me.

* I am not responsible for how everyone else feels.

* Being kind does not mean making myself smaller.

* Being helpful does not mean abandoning myself.

* I can care about other people without carrying everything they feel.

* I am safe. I am here.

* And in this moment, I am allowed to breathe.

💡 3 Daily Caring Tips

1. Catch the sorry: Catch one sorry today before it leaves your mouth, and if it doesn't belong there, replace it with "thank you" instead, try "thank you for waiting" instead of "sorry I'm late."

2. Take a breath before you answer: When someone asks you something today, don't answer immediately. Take one breath, and if you need more time, say "let me think about that and come back to you." You are allowed to pause between the question and the answer.

3. Name it without guilt: Before you go to sleep tonight, name one thing you did today that you are not going to apologize for. Maybe you asked for help, maybe you said no, maybe you rested. Whatever it is, let yourself have it without guilt.
