Yami’s journey into storytelling began in 2015, when she created a simple fundraising video for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to support a friend’s son who was battling leukemia. That heartfelt video helped raise more than $50,000 and revealed something powerful: when stories are shared with honesty, clarity, and purpose, people respond.

Before founding Sunlit, Yami spent 25 years as a professional engineer and program manager in the aerospace and medical device industries. With a background in Industrial Engineering and an MBA, she brings a unique blend of strategy, systems thinking, and human-centered storytelling to her work.

Through Sunlit, Yami helps nonprofits, education programs, and mission-driven organizations clearly communicate their impact in a way that connects with donors, funders, and communities. Her work is rooted in helping organizations bring their purpose, people, and impact into the light.
