The grandmother allegedly washed the money before it went out.A rented Prius with a toll transponder led investigators from Tallahassee to Miami. A woman dating Charlie Adelson turned out to be the mother of the gunman's children. And an FBI sting in 2016 produced a forty-one-minute recording of Charlie discussing the entire arrangement at a Miami Beach restaurant. Donna's reaction to the FBI's approach — three calls to Charlie, zero to the police — told prosecutors everything they needed to know.
