EPISODE 21: SOMEBODY KNOWS SOMETHING

At 1:36 a.m. on July 9, 1993, a one-minute telephone call was placed from our Sedona home—just minutes before Russell Peterson called 911 while my mother, Stacy Marie Wasilishin, lay dying.

Where did that call go? Who answered? What was said? And why wasn't it investigated when the evidence and memories were still fresh?

The itemized telephone bill shows that the call went to a Glendale number ending in 7991. My grandmother's original, unredacted 1993 case file lists that exact same number as the home telephone number of Russell's father, Kenneth Peterson.

Exact number. Exact match.

But the current case file redacts the telephone numbers, and I have found no report documenting that investigators interviewed the recipient or established what was said during that critical one-minute call.

The Sedona Police Department did not obtain the telephone bill directly from U.S. West. They waited approximately 96 days for Russell to bring in the evidence himself. The call was not meaningfully revisited until 2025—32 years after my mother's homicide—when a modern database produced conflicting information and the people involved were asked to remember a one-minute call from more than three decades earlier.

That conflict does not erase what the original police file says. It makes finding the actual 1993 directory even more important.

In this episode, I place the records side by side, explain what they prove—and what they do not prove—and break down the questions investigators should have asked in 1993.

I am asking for the public's help locating an original 1993 Phoenix/Glendale residential White Pages directory. Not the Yellow Pages. Not another modern reverse-number search. I need the physical directory or a verifiable archival copy that can establish exactly how this number and Kenneth Peterson were listed in 1993.

A QUICK NOTE: I have already contacted the Phoenix Public Library, the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, and the Library of Congress—but I am grateful for every suggestion and lead.

If you work for a library, archive, historical society, university, genealogy organization, or simply know someone who might have saved an old phone book, please help me locate a 1993 Phoenix/Glendale residential White Pages directory.

If you have any information or another place you think I should contact, please email me at papikilledmommy@gmail.com.

Somebody out there may have exactly what I need. Please help me find it.

If you have access to one, Send clear photographs of the cover, publication year, directory area, and relevant listing pages. Please do not post addresses or private telephone information publicly.

I also welcome Sarah Lambert, author of the Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) Field Guide, as a sponsor. Sarah is independently reviewing my mother's case and raising important questions about the crime scene, timeline, evidence handling, blood samples, weapon, and an unidentified purse found inside the home.

Dateline has now confirmed coverage of my mother's homicide, and I will soon sit down for an on-camera interview. As more experts, journalists, advocates, and listeners examine this case, the circle of people who may know something is beginning to feel the pressure.

My sister believes her father will never confess—not even on his deathbed—and that only she could obtain a confrontation call or confession.

I beg to differ.

My sister is not the only door. Witnesses are doors. Evidence is a door. This 1:36 a.m. call is a door. National attention is a door. Somebody else's conscience may be the door that finally opens.

If you have information about Stacy's death, do not confront anyone yourself. Contact:

Somebody knows something.

I am not going to stop until we reach the person who does.
