The Lindsay Clancy jury was deadlocked eleven to one after six weeks. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4 after thirty-eight hours of deliberation. Plymouth County DA Timothy Cruz hasn't said whether he'll retry the case.

Outside the courtroom, the case was already being retried in kitchens and comment sections across the country. A man posted a TikTok claiming he canceled his $200,000 wedding because his fiancée told him he couldn't understand postpartum illness. He called her a monster. Four million people watched and turned the breakup into a referendum on the entire case.
