What Wendi Adelson Said Five Days Before Dan Markel Died

Jeffrey Lacasse testified under oath that five days before Dan Markel was shot, Wendi Adelson told him her brother Charlie had looked into hiring a hitman for about fifteen thousand dollars. He called the statement "chilling." Wendi denied it under oath at four separate trials. One of them committed perjury, and the answer determines whether the woman who gained the most from Dan Markel's death knew it was coming.Three weeks before the murder, Wendi was calling Dan an "STD" and an "emotional terrorist." The day before the killing, she asked Lacasse about his Friday travel route near Dan's house, then emailed him not to contact her for a week. The morning of July 18, 2014, she was at home waiting for a Geek Squad technician — an appointment prosecutors say her mother Donna scheduled. Prosecutors argued the family used "TV" as their code word for the murder plot. About an hour after the shooting, Wendi encountered police tape near Dan's house. Her children were supposed to be with him. She didn't pick up the phone.Wendi has testified under derivative use immunity at every trial. That immunity holds unless she lied. Five people are in prison. Wendi is not one of them. State Attorney Jack Campbell said charges on remaining figures would come "in the coming weeks." Nothing has happened.
