Lt. The Earl of Cardigan

Lt. The Earl of Cardigan

In this first episode of the second series we look at the escape of Lt. The Earl of Cardigan.

Captured early in the war, he makes a dash for it from a moving lorry and eventually makes his way south to Gibraltar. He later released an account of his escape in his book, I Walked Alone.

Sadly our presenter, Dave Harrison, passed away from Covid last year, so this entire second series is dedicated to him. This is a shortened episode - due to technical issues - that we had planned to re-record, but under the circumstances have decided to edit what was useable and release it as a bonus episode.

For You The War Is Over is a podcast that looks at the real life stories of POW escapes from the the Second World War. Hosted by History Nerd @DaveMcRobbo and Tech Geek @DaveHarrysson, each episode looks at a new escape.
