I Can't Stop Worrying About What Might Happen — A 10-Minute Meditation for Future Anxiety

I Can't Stop Worrying About What Might Happen — A 10-Minute Meditation for Future Anxiety

Why Can't I Stop Preparing for Tomorrow? — A 10-Minute Meditation for Anticipatory Anxiety and Overthinking the Future

Nothing has happened yet. Not the phone call, not the appointment, not the conversation next week — and somehow your mind has already been there, imagining what might go wrong, trying to solve a problem that doesn't even exist. This guided meditation is for that constant sense that you need to prepare for whatever might happen, before it's even arrived. For the next ten minutes, you don't have to live tomorrow today — you can simply be here.

Hosted by clinical hypnotherapist Martin Hewlett, this episode uses a gentle four-in, two-hold, six-out breath to settle the body, then works directly with the habit of rehearsing tomorrow's problems today — moving from trying to know what will happen before it happens, toward trusting yourself to meet life one moment at a time.

🌿 Today's Gentle Affirmations

Settle in and repeat these gently to yourself:

I am here.

I do not have to solve tomorrow today.

I can let the future remain uncertain.

I can feel anxious without following every anxious thought.

What might happen is not happening now.

I can meet life one moment at a time.

I do not need to rehearse every possibility.

I trust myself to deal with what actually arrives.

Right now, I am allowed to simply be me.

💡 3 Daily Caring Tips

1. When you catch yourself rehearsing a future problem today, say quietly, "That hasn't happened yet," then return to whatever is actually in front of you.

2. Give yourself one ten-minute period today where you deliberately do nothing to prepare, check, research or solve. Let uncertainty exist without trying to remove it.

3. Before bed tonight, take five slow rounds of four in, six out, and remind yourself: tomorrow can wait until tomorrow.
