Yuki Minato and Rob Lake on the global burden of foodborne disease

An update of the 2015 WHO estimates of foodborne disease shows that in 2021 alone, transmission of 42 different hazards in food caused 866 million illnesses and 1.52 million deaths. So what can be done about this huge burden of illness? How is data like this collated? And what don't we know?

Yuki Minato and Rob Lake, two authors of the papers, join Gavin Cleaver, senior editor at The Lancet Global Health, to discuss.
