In January 1993, 37-year-old Madallin Jones was found dead beside a stream near Hawarden, North Wales, after what initially appeared to be a terrible road accident. But as detectives examined the scene and began looking more closely at the circumstances surrounding her death, they quickly realised that something wasn't quite right.

Madallin's husband, Steven Jones, was a serving police sergeant with North Wales Police who had spent years investigating crime and training other officers. He was a respected member of his community and had even been praised for an act of bravery just days before Madallin's death, but he would soon find himself at the centre of a murder investigation led by some of the very people he had worked alongside.
