Maybe it's how you load the dishwasher, handle the laundry, take care of the house, or follow through on something you said you'd do. It can start to feel like she's controlling, nagging, or treating you more like an employee than her husband.

In this episode of The TPM Show, Doug Holt and Erin Holt explore what may actually be happening underneath this dynamic.

Erin explains how couples often enter marriage with completely different blueprints for how a household should operate. Those expectations usually come from what they saw growing up, but they're rarely discussed. Over time, unclear responsibilities, unfinished tasks, and unmet expectations can create resentment on both sides.

Doug takes the conversation a step further by asking an important question: Was your wife always this controlling or critical?

If the answer is no, then something changed.

Doug and Erin discuss how withdrawing, avoiding difficult conversations, failing to follow through, and leaving one partner to manage the household can slowly change the relationship. When your wife feels like she has to continually remind you, manage you, or close the loop on unfinished responsibilities, trust and sexual polarity can suffer.

The solution isn't controlling your wife or simply trying harder to keep her happy. It starts with self-leadership, clear agreements, honest communication, and consistently doing what you say you're going to do.
