Warm Honey and Permission to Settle: Your Nervous System's Gentle Reset

Warm Honey and Permission to Settle: Your Nervous System's Gentle Reset

Well, hello there. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you've carved out this time for yourself today. Whether you're starting your Thursday morning, taking a break from a packed schedule, or maybe you're that person whose nervous system has been running a marathon while your body sits still—this one's for you. Today, we're practicing relaxation, and I mean real relaxation. Not the kind where you're checking your email between deep breaths. The genuine article. Let me guess what your day might look like. You've got that low hum of tension living in your shoulders. Maybe your jaw is a little tight. There's probably at least one thing on your mind that you can't quite shake. Am I close? Here's what I want you to know: that tension isn't a character flaw. Your nervous system is just doing its job a little too well. Today, we're going to gently show it that it's safe to downshift. So let's begin. Find a comfortable seat or lie down if that feels right. You don't need perfect posture for this. Just find a position where your body can genuinely relax without worrying about falling over. Close your eyes whenever you're ready, or soften your gaze if that's more comfortable. Now, let's invite your breath to become something like a gentle wave. Not forced, not controlled—just noticing what's already happening. Breathe in through your nose if you can, and let your exhale be a little longer than your inhale. In for a count of four. Out for five or six. This longer exhale is like giving your nervous system permission to settle, like you're lowering the temperature in a room. Here's where we go deeper. I want you to imagine your relaxation as something physical, like warm honey or sunlight. Picture it starting at the crown of your head. As you exhale, feel it dripping down through your face, softening every muscle—your forehead, your eyes, your jaw. You're not forcing anything. You're just allowing. With each breath, that warm sensation moves further down. Through your neck and shoulders, melting the tension like butter on warm toast. Down your chest, your belly, your hands. Your entire body becoming heavier and more anchored with each exhale. There's nowhere to be but here. Take three more breaths like this, and with each one, feel yourself sinking a little deeper into ease. As we close, carry this feeling into your day like you're wrapping it around your shoulders. When you feel that familiar tightness creeping back in, pause. Remember this breath. That's your superpower. Thank you so much for practicing relaxation with me today. If this resonated with you, please subscribe so we can do this together again soon. You deserve this peace. For great deals today, check out https://amzn.to/47ZqpWT
