Drones SINK Two Ships Off NATO Coast in Two Days

I examine the reported attacks on three merchant ships in two days in the Black Sea economic zones of Bulgaria and Romania. Two Turkish-owned vessels were hit off Bulgaria, with one sinking and its crew missing; a Turkish-owned ship carrying Ukrainian corn reportedly sank off Romania after a drone strike, killing its captain and another crew member. I ask whether Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, or NATO will impose consequences—and whether silence invites the next attack.

I also assess Romania’s call-up of roughly 10,000 reservists, the failure of threats to close Western embassies in Kyiv, and testimony from occupied Mariupol. Beyond the immediate crisis, I track Russia’s threats toward Armenia and Lithuania, Lithuania’s request for a permanent U.S. base, South Korean fuel shipments to Russia, and the Rasvet low-Earth-orbit network that could improve Russian battlefield communications from 2027.
