Faith, Democracy, and the Fight for Wisconsin: April Ajoy, Cait Conley, and David Crowley

This week, Andy sits down with three guests fighting for the country in different ways. First, April Ajoy, a content creator who grew up in Christian Nationalism – singing on the Jim Bakker Show, working for the 700 Club – before walking away from it entirely. She now uses humor and honesty to expose the harm that movement causes, while reclaiming her own faith in a loving God. She and Andy get into the ups and downs of her journey, and yes, she gives her own unfiltered take on his New York Times Bestselling book, "Go and Do Likewise."

Early voting is starting around the country and the countdown to Election Day is on. That's why veteran and candidate Cait Conley is our next conversation. Cait spent 16 years in the Army with six combat deployments, went on to serve on the National Security Council, and led election security efforts at CISA through the 2024 election. Now she's the Democratic nominee taking on Mike Lawler in New York's 17th District. She and Andy talk about what she saw protecting our elections from the inside, and why she decided it was time to trade a nonpartisan career for a tough campaign to flip the House of Representatives.

Finally, David Crowley joins the pod. David grew up in one of Milwaukee's most historically disinvested neighborhoods before becoming the city's first Black county executive, and he's now the Democratic nominee for governor of Wisconsin. He and Andy get into his origin story, what he's learned governing through tight budgets and real crises, and what it'll take to keep the governor's mansion blue in one of the most important swing states in the country. This conversation couldn't be more timely. Let's get started.
