Federal Officials Deny Diddy Was Injured in a Prison Fight (10/16/26)

Deadline reported that the mystery surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent head injury at FCI Fort Dix deepened after the Federal Bureau of Prisons flatly denied reports that he was injured during a fight with convicted Jamaican drug trafficker Christopher “Dudus” Coke. Combs was taken by ambulance from the New Jersey federal prison early Saturday, October 10, for treatment of a head injury that was described as non-life-threatening, and he returned to the facility later that day. Multiple reports had claimed Combs was hurt in an altercation with Coke, but the Bureau of Prisons said that account was false and “did not happen.” Combs’ family has also denied there was a fight, while other reporting suggested he may have struck his head on a bunk bed. Federal prison officials have not publicly explained what actually caused the injury, leaving the circumstances unresolved.

The incident added another controversy to Combs’ incarceration at Fort Dix, where he is serving a 50-month federal sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution while being acquitted of the more serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges. His time at the facility has already generated scrutiny over alleged contraband, special meals, massages, cellphone access and other claimed privileges, and he has spent time in a special housing unit following disciplinary issues. His projected release date has also been pushed to March 2, 2028. The central development in Deadline’s latest report, however, is that the most sensational explanation for Combs’ hospitalization—a prison fight with Coke—is now being explicitly rejected by federal authorities, while officials still have not provided an alternative explanation for how Combs suffered the head injury that required outside medical treatment.
