Caleb Flynn’s Defense Wants WHAT Reconsidered?!

The jury found Caleb Flynn guilty on nine counts, and the court sentenced him to life without parole. His trial lawyer Patrick Mulligan then filed a notice of appeal and asked for a public defender to take over. The defense says the proof of prior calculation and design was insufficient and has identified concerns about the jury instructions and trial location.

Alleigha Botner told jurors about the vast volume of messages she exchanged with Flynn. One of her own texts said she wanted to kill Ashley Flynn. She also testified about deleting communications and giving federal investigators an untrue initial account of the affair.

The defense pressed investigators about missed searches and about surveillance near the pastor’s home in Vandalia where Botner was house-sitting. The camera footage showed a car’s movements, leaving a narrower factual record than a camera image identifying its driver.

Those investigative questions matter to the public debate, but an appellate court decides specific claims of legal error. Botner has not been charged, and the evidence discussed here does not establish that she participated in Ashley’s death. Flynn still denies killing his wife.

The listeners ask whether the appeal has a realistic path and whether Ashley’s loved ones may have to face the painful evidence again.
