Following Harry: Susanne Rostock & Carmen Perez Celebrate the Extraordinary Life and Legacy of Harry Belafonte | The Roundtable

Harry Belafonte was one of the greatest entertainers of all time, but his most important work may have happened far beyond the stage. The legendary singer, actor, humanitarian, and civil rights activist spent his life fighting injustice, championing equality, and inspiring generations to use their voices for change. Now, the extraordinary documentary FOLLOWING HARRY takes us inside the final twelve years of his remarkable life, revealing the man behind the legend and the movement he helped build. On this special edition of The Roundtable with Robert Bannon, we welcome acclaimed filmmaker Susanne Rostock and activist Carmen Perez for a powerful conversation about the importance of art, activism, mentorship, and the responsibility we all share in shaping the future. Rostock, the award-winning filmmaker behind Sing Your Song, returns to Belafonte's story with an intimate portrait that follows the icon through some of the most significant social movements of the past decade. From the aftermath of Trayvon Martin's death and the protests in Ferguson to the Women's March and private conversations with a new generation of leaders, FOLLOWING HARRY captures a man who refused to stop working for justice. Carmen Perez, a nationally recognized civil rights leader and organizer who worked alongside Belafonte, represents the next generation of activists carrying his mission forward. Through her involvement, the documentary explores how Belafonte's extraordinary wisdom, experience, and determination continue to inspire meaningful action. Featuring appearances by Jamie Foxx, Rosario Dawson, Jesse Williams, Chuck D, Aloe Blacc, Angela Davis, Talib Kweli, and more, FOLLOWING HARRY is not simply a celebration of an American icon. It is a powerful reminder that the fight for equality is far from over. The film also examines the deeply personal questions of aging, legacy, and what it means to pass the torch to a generation facing challenges of its own. What does it mean to be an artist with a purpose? How do we honor those who came before us? And perhaps most importantly, what are we willing to do to make the world better for those who come next? These are the questions at the heart of FOLLOWING HARRY and the reason Harry Belafonte's voice remains as vital today as ever. Join Robert Bannon for a meaningful celebration of an extraordinary life, an unforgettable legacy, and a call to action that belongs to all of us. Because Harry Belafonte didn't just make history. He challenged the rest of us to make a difference. 🎬 Learn more about FOLLOWING HARRY: https://www.followingharry.org 🎙️ The Roundtable with Robert Bannon Your front-row seat to the biggest names in entertainment, Broadway, music, film, television, and beyond! 🌐 Website: www.RobertBannon.com 📺 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@RobertBannon 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertmbannon 🎵 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@robertbannon 🎧 Listen to The Roundtable with Robert Bannon on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and the Broadway Podcast Network. 📰 Catch our exclusive interviews and features on BroadwayWorld!
