Amazon automation is like transportation. You can go from Point A to Point B by driving, taking the bus, or taking an Uber. Amazon's platform does the 'heavy lifting,' it's able to generate over a billion users in traffic with high intent who are ready to purchase a product. As Amazon evolved, so did its policies and regulations which impacted the way Amazon stores operated. Specifically, it cracked down on Retail Arbitrage and started to deactivate stores because of these violations. When Walmart opened up its e-commerce platforms, previous Amazon store owners, who leveraged Retail Arbitrage, thought they could use this same automation system.

As the pandemic shocked the world, more people paid careful attention to their budgets and purchases. So, when they spent extra time shopping for the lowest price, dropshipping-based stores started to see more returns because customers started to shop around on other large retailer's e-commerce sites.
