'Russians could destroy my home, but they will not destroy my future': Interview with a Ukrainian student in the US

'Russians could destroy my home, but they will not destroy my future': Interview with a Ukrainian student in the US

Today, we’re publishing one of the last interviews conducted by David on our US trip back in September 2023. Listeners may remember David hosted a panel discussion at Georgetown University, which we later shared as a special, two-part episode.

After that recording several of the students stayed to chat to their professors and David.

One of the students was a freshman called Marta. Originally from Kharkiv, she had left Ukraine to study in the US. Her stories were fascinating and moving. We decided to interview her properly and returned to Georgetown a week later.

In this special episode, Marta speaks about her experience growing up in Ukraine, applying for university while the air raid alarm wailed and the emotional challenge of keeping in touch with her father, who is fighting in the war.
