Against her judgment - Chapter 7

’Robert?’ she thought loudly to herself. Her body stiffened and her smile faded. His eyes went wide as the awareness seeped into his consciousness. “It’s Mac, beautiful. Robert is my father.” his words lingered as he moved slowly to place his hand under her chin and gently tilt her face so he could look into her eyes.

She allowed him that moment and simply bore her gaze into his, unsure of how she should be feeling or why it was that this feeling left her so unstable.

“Can I kiss you?” he asked so closely that she felt the air escape from his breath on her lips. Desire seeped into her core and even though she knew that she should allow herself to want this she couldn’t help the feelings that were settling in just under the surface of her heated flesh. “Yes,” she said breathlessly.

His kiss came gentle at first and later filled with hunger. The sheer amount of passion that coursed between the two of them was enough to make her explode. “Can I see you tomorrow?” he asked between the kisses.

Against her better judgement, against her reason and her plan the words leapt from her lips of their own accord. “Yes,”

He smiled as he broke the kiss. “I’ve got to go but I’ll see you tomorrow.” He planted one last chaste kiss to her lips and left the room. Suddenly she was surrounded by a coldness she hadn’t anticipated.

She pressed her fingers to her lips in memory of the man that had taken her breath away.

She walked over to the mirror and stared at her reflection. She seemed to be glowing. Her mind raced as she said to herself “You are stronger than you thought.”

The sound of her cell phone broke her from her thoughts. She walked over to the nightstand and glanced down at the caller id. “Robert!”
