3. Spanglish and a bat! | Spanish in the US (Spanglish, The Switch, Latinx) | part 3 of 3

In part 3 or our opening series, we take a look at the language itself, meaning past and current use of Spanglish --the mixture of Spanish and English--; the evolution of that into something we can call The Switch, the appearance of the term Latinx and we also talk about a bat, yes, a bat, the animal, in Spanish it’s a “murciélago” and how that “murciélago” will reveal to us something very important about the evolution of the Spanish language, and languages in general.

Alicia Civita (@AliciaCivita) --our guest for this three-part series-- is a very seasoned journalist who has covered from hard news to entertainment in Spanish for news outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, El Nuevo Herald, Los Angeles Times and currently for EFE, the largest Spanish news agency in the world.

Part 1 covers the evolution of Spanish in the US over the last three decades and how it's seen today from business to everyday life.

Part 2 dissects current approach and use of Spanish in showbiz.

Spanish We Do is a production of SpanishWeDo.com; a translation and localization team for text, subtitles and voice-over from English into Spanish and Spanish into English.
