86. How To Be Happy w/ Psychologist Katarina Blom

I had two incredible breakthroughs on Better Together today with world-renowned Swedish psychologist and author Katarina Blom. Happiness isn't a "state of being," it's an emotion, and just like all of our emotions, our goal should be to work towards experiencing happiness, not obligating it into our lives. On today's show, Katarina walks us through practical, science-backed exercises to increase our likelihood of achieving happiness more frequently. These strategies have NEVER been more valuable. PLUS, we share our #GoodNewsMonday story straight from @Good_News_Movement 's instagram - a traveling troubadour dedicated to bringing social distance graduation ceremonies to the hard-working students that deserve them! Enjoy the show! Regular Guy Friday Ep. 26: Why the Universe Has You and Shame Should Not, So Long As.....

Regular Guy Friday Ep. 26: Why the Universe Has You and Shame Should Not, So Long As.....

Hay Kweenz, Regular Guys and Girls, we fooled 'em again! We made it to another edition of Regular Guy Friday! Life is happening for you, not to you, and the universe has you always.  Nature walks will help raise awareness to see it but walking alone in LA at night may not be the best idea, Kelsey!  Lacking awareness, being self involved, chasing rainbows,  focusing on what the universe isn't giving you and medicating is a recipe for mediocrity (and medicating doesn't just come in the form of alcohol or drugs). Then comes the shame which can elevate or destroy you. How we view the past is rarely accurate, making the allowance of shame and guilt to destroy us even more pointless.  Kelsey knows what the kids mean then they ask 'who's got the aux? ' While Kev thinks it's all chugey. We wonder where Kelsey's friend Tom from Nordstrom is at with all of the above. And if you're really cool, you don't call your friends 'betches', you call them 'B's.'  Bye B's. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/better-together-w-maria/support

Most positive  changes won't feel good - at first. Are you giving away your power? Want to raise your vibration when down - don't hang out with old acquaintances, hang out with new strangers, just ask Ester Hicks.  The  quality of your life  is a direct reflection of the expectations of your peers - just ask Tony Robbins.   Do those around your push you to reach your full potential. We certainly are trying  here!     Enjoy this episode and  share with a friend who you think would benefit from it,  too! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/better-together-w-maria/support

Regular Guy Friday Ep. 25: How Overindulgence Leads to Rage and Getting Less Gives You More...

Regular Guy Friday Ep. 25: How Overindulgence Leads to Rage and Getting Less Gives You More...

Hay Kweenz, Regular Guys and Girls, we fooled 'em again! We made it to another edition of Regular Guy Friday!  Overindulgence leads to rage and whether it's mindless rage or focused rage, it's still rage.  When it comes to projects and jobs: 1)  less people means more productivity - and more happiness.  2) comfort zones may be comfy but will age you fast 3) adapt to new situations and learn new skills - new skills come from young, open minds.  Whether in a relationship or a divorce, eye the big picture and keep your ego out of it. All Setbacks are Set-Ups as long as.....  The 21st century is changing negotiation techniques - and why it's better to get a little less than you think you deserve. If we got everything we wanted in life, we would be married to our elementary school crushes - or in Kelsey's case, a heroin addict.  Finishing schools may be a thing of the past, but life schools are more necessary than ever.  Who else will teach Kelsey's dates that they serve tacos on Taco Tuesdays?  Whether it's Simone Biles at the Olympics, you or someone you love, it's better to bend than break, unless you're Joe Frazier in Manilla. Bye Betches. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/better-together-w-maria/support
