Emerging Value: Rashmi Kwatra finds value in South-East Asian emerging markets with Tobias Carlisle on The Acquirers Podcast

Rashmi Kwatra is Founder and CIO at Sixteenth Street Capital. She started working in her father's export business at the age of 10, and bought her first stock at the age of 12. Her first experience managing an investment portfolio was at the age of 17, when she acted as a mini-endowment CIO. She sourced funding for an education NGO in the north of Thailand, which is her home, and invested the funding in a portfolio of equities, with the goal of providing sustainable cash flows in the form of dividends for the non-profit's cause while allowing the funding capital to appreciate over time. She joined Prince Street Capital Management after The Wharton School and was made a Partner of the business in 2014, responsible for their investments in South and Southeast Asia. In 2017, she founded Sixteenth Street Capital, and in 2018 launched the Sixteenth Street Asian GEMS fund focused on long-term investing and opportunities in Asia’s fastest growing markets. While focused on public equities Rashmi would say she values a business as would a long-term private buyer. Her heritage is in South Asia but her family has been in Southeast Asia for over a century. She speaks Thai, Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish and English.
