Big themes and stories in comms from the past week or so are put under the microscope in the latest edition of Noise in Brief, PRWeek UK’s bite-sized podcast.

Noise in Brief – a shorter offshoot of PRWeek’s Beyond the Noise podcast – is released fortnightly and features PRWeek journalists discussing major issues from the previous seven days or so.

This week, the team discuss the recent holding company results and chat about the challenges in the PR sector in the second quarter of 2023, specifically from technology clients.

On the topic of technology, the trio talk about the latest developments in AI technology and its impact on comms and PR, from recruitment to employee policies.

Jim Donaldson’s departure from FleishmanHillard after nine years as the chief executive for the UK and Middle East is also discussed.

Elsewhere, the team introduce PRWeek UK’s new regular column, ‘PR Room 101’, and select their own PR and comms pet hates they would kick out of the industry altogether.

And finally, PRWeek’s ‘what clients want from agencies’ returns. Reporter Evie Barrett talks about her interview with Jenny Pask of BAE Systems Digital Intelligence and explains BAE’s agency set-ups and what it values most from the relationships.
