Debe Arlook is an award-winning American artist working in photography. Arlook's conceptual and documentary work is a response to her surroundings and the larger environment. Her projects depict the inner and outer worlds of human relationships, informed by her studies in filmmaking, psychology, and spiritual practices. Arlook's latest project, one, one thousand, is a collaboration between Debe, her sister, Lori Sandler, and her son, David. This unconventional documentary exposes the impact of a rare and incurable form of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, on Lori and David. At 28 years old, David endures seizures, has scoliosis and severe autism and requires 24-hour care. After years of pursuing conventional approaches to stop seizures, Lori turned to unconventional healers, working in energetic and mystical realms. Her love for David and finding meaning through their circumstances fuels her dedication to his care and her own personal and spiritual growth.
