Today on Meditating the Word, we read about Amaziah King of Judah and Jeroboan II King of Israel, the slaughter of the Edomites, the defeat of Judah by Israel, and the death of Amaziah.

This is Day 187. Today we are reading 2nd Kings 14 and 2nd Chronicles 25

Father God, it boggles the mind that Amaziah would take the gods of Edom -- the people you helped him defeat -- and bow down to them. We read these accounts and forget our own transgressions. Help us to learn, Father, not to trust in anything or anyone but you. You are our Provider, our Protector, our Savior and our God. There is no other God but you. Thank you for your love and mercy. Amen
