The Sword of Welleran.

On tonight's episode, I read a good news story about an adorable horse that has been walking the streets by herself for 10 years. Then go into tonight's story.

Tonight's story is called The Sword Of Welleran and this is one of the stories and writers that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien who you probably know from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.The Sword of Welleran", is perhaps one of my favorite fantasy short stories. It concerns the invasion of the people of idyllic Merimna, who have no desire or knowledge of battle, though the city was once home to the greatest heroes in the land, and how the people of this city are saved from invasion. Instantly this story drew me into another world through Dunsany's simply elegant storytelling. I could envision the city of Merimna and all of its monuments (being described somewhat like a fantastic Greek or Roman city) perfectly as Dunsany must have dreamed them and not a word is wasted.
