The Importance of Self-Awareness
There is something that is rarely talked about in the business world and I want to start building more attention for it. That thing is self-awareness. I’m upset that the narrative these days is that everyone needs to be number one, own a company, be in charge. A lot of people are going to lose that way. Self-awareness allows people to recognize what things they do best so they can then go hard on those aspects of their life. It also helps you accept your weaknesses. What works for one person doesn’t work for everyone. I want people to learn to be at peace with themselves, to understand what they can offer, because everyone’s got something. The key, however, is learning how to find it. Self-awareness can help you do that. Self-awareness is being able to accept your weaknesses while focusing all of your attention on your strengths. The moment you decide to accept your shortcomings and bet entirely on your strengths, things will change. Trust me.

#QOTD: What would you post on your social networks if it was the only thing you could say all year? #LINKS EPISODE 100: https://www.facebook.com/events/1432361237066830/ FAITHBOX: http://faithbox.com/ I truly don't think that when I'm being selfish, it comes at the detriment of someone else. So that's how I handle it. That can be a hard thing to make yourself believe. Watching someone else have a hard time because of a decision you made is extremely upsetting to a lot of people. But I have a way to justify it. When I'm in my most selfish place, I don't try to conceal the act in some way that hides what it is. I don't try to sugar coat or act like it's a good thing. Let them be upset because that is their right. Even though I am doing something that looks selfish to benefit me in the short term, it is actually going to positively affect the people it involves in the long term. I am making a decision in a five month window instead of a five year window, but history will allow that person to feel that it was palatable when they rekindle their thoughts around it. Even though it might sting or not feel as great in the short term, I know that looking back, it will be okay. Because I made the decision that was hard, but right.

Why? Because if you actually think in 2015 that your idea is so profound and nobody has ever thought of it, then you are lost in the reality of the marketplace. If that is your mindset, I don't see that as a winning mindset. Starting now, 2015 and beyond, the days of patenting ideas, IP being stolen, are gone. Every idea has been thought of. All of them. I mean it. Now, people actually executing on those ideas? That is the big one now. You need to have the right resources, be in the right place in your career, have energy, skills, opportunities: those are the variables. Not the ideas.

Dreams, Ethics, & The DMV
Description: #QOTD: How many dreams do you remember in the morning? #LINKS BASKETBALL WITH GV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70D_FSxgIgE There is nothing the DMV can do to improve their situation. Let me explain why. Because they are run by the state. So, it's political. They won't fix it. The only way to fix DMVs is the privatize them and let entrepreneurs run them. They, for a change, will actually care about the customer. Employees will care, because they would have incentives. Maybe they would even put Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts inside of the DMVs, to make more money on the rent. Basically, privatized DMVs would innovate. Care. Give a crap. All the things that government industries don't do because it is not in their best interest. The people that can't innovate and can't win in a competitive landscape default to having terrible careless services. I don't want to be a hardcore capitalist on this issue, though. But I really don't know. If you don't incentivize humans somehow to do the right thing, you can't win. AND...more and more, in a digital world, it's become easier to do that. There is no excuse any more. There are alternatives.
