Bill Skarsgård Returns as Pennywise in Max's 'Welcome to Derry'

Max has officially announced that Bill Skarsgård will reprise his iconic role as Pennywise the Clown in the upcoming It prequel series, "Welcome to Derry." Skarsgård, who first terrified audiences in the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's It and its 2019 sequel, It Chapter Two, is also set to serve as an executive producer on the series.

Reuniting with Skarsgård are Andy Muschietti, the director of both It films, along with producer Barbara Muschietti and co-producer Jason Fuchs. This collaboration promises to deliver a chilling expansion of the It universe, with big scares tailored for the small screen.

Skarsgård's return to the role comes after he confirmed in March last year that he was "not involved" with the prequel. However, it seems the allure of Pennywise was too strong to resist, and he has since signed on to bring the flame-haired clown back to life. Although the series has been in development since 2022, details remain scarce. Even the working title, "Welcome to Derry," is subject to change.
