Episode 411: Relationships After Trauma. Laura Brown, PhD

This is the second installment of my holiday reposting series where I'm bringing back guests during the month of December who represent what this podcast is all about: courage, authenticity, vulnerability and courage. Last week it was Adena Bank Lees. This week, it's Laura Brown. ----- First though, a huge thank-you to my sponsor this week: CPTSD Foundation. CPTSD Foundation has been successfully equipping complex trauma survivors and practitioners with compassionate support, skills, and trauma-informed education since 2014. Daily Recovery Support? Yes! Free Support Groups? Yes! The Healing Book Club? Yes! A Weekly Newsletter? Definitely! Learn more about the CPTSD Foundation here. ---- Laura Brown breathes genuineness, authenticity and humor. And when you listen to her you can't help but think to yourself, Geeze, I wish she were my therapist. At least, that's what I'm thinking to myself! Laura is a feminist trauma psychologist who lives in Seattle and has published extensively on topics related to trauma treatment, feminist practice, cultural competence, ethics, and LGBT concerns. She is the founder and past director of the Fremont Community Therapy Project, a training clinic serving low-income individuals. Though she retired from psychotherapy practice in December 2018, Laura continues to offer supervision and consultation as well as forensic psychology services. Laura’s second popular press book is Not the Price of Admission: Healthy Relationships After Childhood Trauma. Her first popular press book is: Your turn for care: Surviving the aging and death of the adults who harmed you. Laura is also a late-in-life student of aikido and earned her black belt in November 2014, on the cusp of turning 64. She continues in its practice.
