St. Catherine of Alexandria: Invincible Martyr

St. Catherine of Alexandria: Invincible Martyr

St. Catherine of Alexandria: Invincible Martyr In today’s opening prayer the Church acknowledges St. Catherine of Alexandria: A Virgin and Invincible Martyr. St. Catherine across the centuries has a tremendous popularity. Over the last 150 years or so, however, her popularity has waned. But why was she celebrated from an early time among the faithful (she was born around 287 and died when she was either 17 or 22 years of age)? Why? The clue to this may be the words . . . Invincible Martyr. Catherine was of royal blood and gifted with a high level of education and was brilliant. The Homily provides more detail. She came to her faith through her studies. The more she studied, she encountered the truth of the Gospel. Hear more about this incredible saint and what made her Invincible. Listen to this Meditation Media.
