Over more than 30 years, he has propelled Dr. Loosen into the upper echelons of German wines, and helped raise the international reputation of the Mosel region, and Riesling in general. Beyond Germany, Erni has made his mark domestically through a winemaking venture in Washington state and, most recently, at Appassionata Estate in Oregon. As the realization of his long-term vision of establishing a world-class European-style winery in Oregon, Appassionata is dedicated to crafting wines of extraordinary ageability that express the true character of the Willamette Valley.
