I don't understand how Americans deal with the sheer callousness towards the 90% of the population by the politicians and elites when they are left to fight over 5% of the wealth left.

In 1973, Australia's largest computer predicted trends such as pollution levels, population growth, availability of natural resources and quality of life on earth. ABC's This Day Tonight aired this story on 9 November, 1973.

Even to this day, this research is considered to be the best in the world of academia, and yet, when the results came out they were criticized by the New York Times as “an empty and misleading work”. This was probably due to even the New York Times being scared of such statements.

ABC News released a short video from 1973, a sort of behind-the-scenes of the whole research and first-hand commentary from the researchers upon seeing the unexpected results.

However, researchers said further drops in carbon output—1 billion to 2 billion metric tons per year—are needed for global emissions to meet the safe worldwide temperature range defined by the Paris Agreement to dodge the effects of climate change.

The pop culture references are her way of saying that the grid was designed for technology and weather that existed in the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Now, she says, it needs to be updated for a future that includes climate change.

The report has highlighted a global problem that is "much bigger than previously estimated," Richard Swannell from Wrap told BBC News. "The 923 million tonnes of food being wasted each year would fill 23 million 40-tonne trucks. Bumper-to-bumper, enough to circle the Earth seven times."
