In this episode, Camilla Uppal speaks with Evie Smith, manager of Intervene, about the current issues facing the prison system and prisoners’ access to justice.

Intervene is a registered legal charity, established by Kesar and Co Solicitors in 2013. They are staffed by full-time Manager Evie Smith and numerous passionate volunteers and currently support over 200 prisoners who have suffered mistreatment during their sentence.

Intervene were recently shortlisted for the LexisNexis Pro Bono Award 2022 for all of the incredible work that they have been doing to support prisoners who wish to bring civil claims or seek remedies after their human rights have been breached. If you are interested in getting involved with this project, Intervene are now expanding their office space and are actively recruiting for new volunteer caseworkers. If this is something you are interested in getting involved with, please visit Intervene’s website which you can find here: https://www.interveneproject.org/.
