Working With Weight Loss, Obesity And Eating Disorders As A Yoga Therapist

Working With Weight Loss, Obesity And Eating Disorders As A Yoga Therapist

In today’s episode, Breathing Deeply teacher, Joe Simek, sits down with our co-founder Brandt Passalaqua to tap into his expertise around weight loss, obesity and eating disorders. Brandt has seen many people change their lives through weight loss after working with him and become much happier and healthier. Taking people on a weight loss journey helps them to realize who they are and live happier and more productive lives. Discover Brandt’s journey to becoming a yoga therapist who specializes in weight loss and creating Being at Peace with Food, a specialized yoga therapy training for weight loss. The work we do with weight loss is different from a conventional weight loss program which is purely focused on weight loss. Our goal is to have people become more present, regulated and aware of their situation and be empowered to make the right choices for themselves. This episode covers the following questions: How do we know who is a good candidate for the work we teach inside Being at Peace with Food? What should we consider when looking to take on clients with severe obesity? What should we consider before taking on a client who is suffering from an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia? Brandt covers what is within the scope of our practice as yoga therapists and what kind of person struggling with their weight is a good candidate to work with. He also goes over in-depth in what instances a yoga therapist can safely take on a client who is suffering from an eating disorder such as bulimia and anorexia. Discover the most important things you need to know about these conditions and in what cases you are in a position to really help them with the tools of yoga! This clip has been taken directly from our program, Being at Peace with Food! Being At Peace with Food is a specialized yoga therapy training that takes a holistic approach to weight loss rooted in yoga. If you are a yoga teacher or therapist, mental health professional, integrative medicine practitioner, or work with clients in health and wellness, this training is for you!
