Fall Foliage Adventure in Acadia National Park (summer is the best time to start planning!)

We're sharing all the highlights from our fall getaway to celebrate Brittanie's birthday during peak fall foliage season. This East Coast gem is known for its stunning coastal landscapes, vibrant autumn colors, and adventurous hiking trails – and our trip did not disappoint!

We visited Acadia National Park in October for peak fall foliage and color change. We flew to Boston and from there had a scenic road trip through New Hampshire and on to Acadia in Maine. We explored many of Acadia’s highlights, as well as the quaint neighboring town of Bar Harbor, such as driving the Park Loop Road for stunning coastal views, exploring Sand Beach -nestled between mountains and rocky shores, hiking the Beehive Trail – a thrilling climb with iron rungs and panoramic views, sunrise at Cadillac Mountain – the first place to see the sunrise in the U.S., witnessing the thunderous waves at Thunder Hole, and indulging in Maine’s famous eats and drinks like wild blueberry pie, lobster rolls, & blueberry ale!

If you plan to watch sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, you MUST make a reservation to do so. Reservations can be made at Recreation.gov by clicking here.

When visiting Acadia, you will more than likely be staying in the neighboring town of Bar Harbor, and we recommend staying at the following hotels:

• The Inn on Mount Desert
