The Energy of Empire 17. Russia, WWI & the Turkish Straits

The Energy of Empire 17. Russia, WWI & the Turkish Straits

Russia’s major geostrategic objective in the First World War was to capture the Turkish Straits. Preventing this from happening had been a major geostrategic objective for Britain and France for at least the previous seventy years. Did their position really shift, or was this all a ruse to lure Russia into the war?

Gone Fishing - with Hungry Ghosts (Additional Segment of Jerry Marzinsky Interview)

In this additional clip Jerry Marzinsky talks about an encounter with a schizophrenic inmate at a prison, which helped convince him the voices were external entities. The encounter may also have a lot to tell us about the nature of the voices. Schizophrenia, Possession and Freedom - with Jerry Marzinsky

Schizophrenia, Possession and Freedom - with Jerry Marzinsky

Psychotherapist Jerry Marzinsky spent decades working with people being tormented by hearing abusive voices. His experience led him to believe the voices were coming from an outside source – some sort of parasitic entities feeding of human negative emotion. In this interview I ask Jerry how he arrived at this conclusion, what he can tell us about the nature of these entities, how they are capable of using deception to trick us, whether they have a more global agenda and crucially, what people can do to find freedom. Mindfulness, Consciousness & Creativity, with Roy Horan

Mindfulness, Consciousness & Creativity, with Roy Horan

I was delighted to be able to interview Roy Horan, author of the book, Vigilance of the Heart. Roy has led an intense life of martial and spiritual practice and is one of the most interesting commentators on mindfulness I've encountered, presenting it as a gateway to accessing deeper levels of consciousness. Roy grounds this in the practical by showing how this state of consciousness is the source of spontaneity and creativity - and that when this is understood, anyone can harness it potential. What is Money? (and how is it corrupted?), with Robert Bonomo

What is Money? (and how is it corrupted?), with Robert Bonomo

Today's guest Robert Bonomo authored an article, 'The Moral Hazard of Modern Banking' where he explains both what money is and how it has been corrupted. In this interview I get Robert to explain concepts I find challenging, like 'fractional reserve', at a pace I could keep up with. I hope that in doing so we created something that anyone can understand.   Read Robert's article, The Moral Hazard of Modern Banking The Mystery of Banking, by Murray Rothbard, explains the origins of money within around the first twenty pages   http://deepstateconsciousness.com/content

Beyond the Darkness - Suicide & Near Death Experience, with Angie Fenimore

Beyond the Darkness - Suicide & Near Death Experience, with Angie Fenimore

On the 8th January 1991 Angie Fenimore attempted to end her suffering by committing suicide. What ensued was a near death experience that took her to 'the brink of Hell'; where an encounter with the sacred restored her to life and gave her a fresh perspective its meaning. In this interview we explore the value Angie's story holds in helping people struggling with suicidal thoughts, as well as what it might offer to people who have lost loved ones this way. I also ask Angie some more philosophical questions about the nature of near death experience and how she has integrated her own over the past twenty-five years. The Algerian Civil War, with Adam Fitzgerald

The Algerian Civil War, with Adam Fitzgerald

In this episode we look at some of the fall out of the Afghan Soviet war, when radicalised Muslims return to their home countries and are met by popular Islamic political movements. We focus on Algeria, where the country descended into civil war and look at claims of collusion between the Algerian state and the Islamist's.
