Join us for grand rounds this week where Dr. Juliet Atherstone, a cardiac anesthesiologist at Vancouver General Hospital, and Dr. Sarah Parent, a cardiologist in Saskatoon, discuss heart failure assessment and management in the perioperative setting.


Dr. Juliet Atherstone completed medical school and residency in anesthesiology at UBC, and then went on to do a cardiac anesthesiology fellowship at Ottawa Heart Institute. Currently, she works at Vancouver General Hospital as a cardiac anesthesiologist, as well as doing perioperative echo and cardiac surgery intensive care. Her current position is co-Regional Head of Cardiac Anesthesiology for the University of British Columbia.


Dr. Sarah Parent has been practicing cardiology in Saskatoon since 2018. She is a member of the Division of Cardiology and a clinical associate professor with the University of Saskatchewan. She obtained her medical degree in 2010 and internal residency in 2013 at the U of S. She complete her cardiology residency (2016) and fellowships in echocardiology (2017) and advanced heart failure transplantation (2018) at the U of A. She is the lead of the cardiac transplant program in Saskatchewan.
